Our Journey

The Diaspora Liberian Development Initiatives (DLDI) was born out of a shared vision among Liberians in the diaspora to give back to their homeland in a structured, impactful, and transparent way. Recognizing the challenges Liberia continues to face in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic growth, we came together with one mission: to unite diaspora resources and expertise for community development.

Our journey began with the drafting and approval of our constitution and bylaws, laying the foundation for accountability and good governance. From there, we took steps to incorporate DLDI as a legal entity, positioning ourselves to operate globally while directly impacting communities in Liberia.

Along the way, we introduced bold initiatives such as the $1.00 remittance contribution scheme, designed to transform every dollar sent home into a collective force for change. With support from our county-based diaspora representatives, local partners, and stakeholders, we have started mapping out projects that touch lives—schools, health centers, water systems, and youth empowerment programs.

What started as an idea is now a movement. Our journey is one of unity, resilience, and purpose—showing that together, Liberians at home and abroad can build the future they dream of.

Transparency and Accountability

Transparency and accountability are fundamental to our ethos. We operate with integrity, ensuring that every resource entrusted to us is directed towards projects that benefit the people of Liberia.

At Diaspora Liberian Development Initiatives (DLDI), we believe that trust is the foundation of development. Every dollar, every project, and every decision is guided by our unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability.

15-County Diaspora Board Oversight – All development projects and allocation of funds are reviewed and approved by the 15 County Diaspora Board, ensuring that every county has a voice and that resources are equitably distributed.
Independent Audits – To maintain the highest standards of financial integrity, DLDI is subject to both internal and external independent audits. This guarantees that funds are managed responsibly and reports remain accessible to all stakeholders.
Bank Account Signatories – The management of DLDI’s finances is further safeguarded by requiring three mandatory signatories on the organization’s bank account: the President, the Treasurer, and the Chairman of the 15 County Board. This triple-approval process prevents misuse of funds and strengthens institutional accountability.

Through these mechanisms, DLDI ensures that contributions from the diaspora and partners are handled with the utmost care, directed toward meaningful projects, and transparently reported.
