County Community Libraries

Project type

A Project Prototype is a pilot or model project developed to test and demonstrate the effectiveness of an idea before it is scaled up across multiple communities. At DLDI, our prototypes are designed to be practical, community-driven, and sustainable, serving as learning models that can be replicated in all 15 counties of Liberia. Each prototype will: Start Small, Think Big – Launch in one county or community as a pilot, then expand once results are proven. Demonstrate Impact – Show measurable outcomes in education, healthcare, infrastructure, or economic empowerment. Involve Communities – Engage local leaders, schools, and residents to ensure the project addresses real needs. Ensure Transparency – Apply strict accountability measures, with oversight from the 15-County Board and audits at every stage. Be Scalable and Replicable – Designed so that once successful, the same model can be implemented across other counties. For example, a County Community Library may begin as a prototype in one county. Once proven successful—with increased student performance and community use—it can be expanded into other counties with adjustments tailored to local needs. In this way, our Project Prototypes act as testing grounds for innovation and ensure that every initiative we implement is effective, sustainable, and impactful before it is expanded nationwide.

County Community Library Project

The County Community Library Project is designed to provide Liberian communities with access to knowledge, information, and learning resources that can transform lives. Too often, students and young people in Liberia face serious barriers to education—not because of lack of interest, but because of the absence of books, study spaces, and digital resources. This project seeks to bridge that gap.

The library will serve as:

A Learning Hub – A safe, quiet, and well-equipped space where students of all ages can study, read, and prepare for academic success.

A Resource Center – Stocked with textbooks, reference materials, children’s books, and digital resources to support both formal and informal learning.

A Community Space – Hosting workshops, literacy programs, and community events that promote education, culture, and social development.

A Technology Access Point – With computers and internet access to connect communities to global knowledge and opportunities.

A Legacy for Generations – Ensuring that future generations inherit a culture of learning, reading, and innovation.

The County Community Library Project is more than just a building—it is an investment in education, empowerment, and opportunity. By giving young people access to the tools they need to learn and grow, we are laying the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous Liberia.
